The Phnom Penh Post reports that the operators services are currently available in 17 provinces across the country, including the capital Phnom Penh, Kandal, Sihanoukville and Siem Reap, with the remaining provinces due to be covered by the end of the year. Last month ZTE Corporation announced it was constructing SEATELs national 4G-only network to deliver high-performance mobile broadband services and voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) to consumers and businesses across Cambodia. According to Han Hanchou, general manager of SEATEL Cambodia, the company has earmarked investment of around USD400 million, of which USD100 million has already been spent.
According to TeleGeographys GlobalComms Database, in 2013 SEATEL acquired one of the Cambodian wireless markets smallest players, GT-Tell, which operated a CDMA2000 1xEV-DO network under the brand Excell until its switch off on 27 June 2015. Investors in SEATEL include Hong Kongs First Oriental Holdings Limited and Sun Bright International Holdings.
