Apple has decided to add support to Yahoo�s instant messenger protocol to its iChat system. According to Apple Insider, Apple has introduved iChat as a IM client for AOLs propriety Chat Protocol, then added support for Jabbar and XMPP, which is an Open IM Standard supported by Google Talk and Apple iChat Server.iChat (formerly iChat AV) is an instant messaging software application developed by Apple Inc. exclusively for its Mac OS X operating system. It has audio, video and screen-sharing capabilities as well as text messaging. It uses a XMPP-like protocol, Bonjour, for user discovery, and it also allows for LAN communication.
