Wishing all my beloved readers a happy month of Ramadan Kareem filled with joy, love and holiness. Ramadan is the month of fasting where we refrain from eating and drinking for the love of God. This month has immense significance in the life of every Muslim and this ninth month of the Islamic Calendar is the holiest of all months. Ramadan gifts us with 5 things which are,
- Iftar,
- Sehri
- Charity,
- Laylat al-Qadr and
- Eid Ul Fitr.
Iftar is the time during sunset when we break the fast with something sweet like date which is the Sunnah of the Last Prophet Mohammad PBUH.
Sehri is the time before dawn when we wake up in the middle of night and take meal before the call of Fajr Prayer.
Charity has great importance in the month of Ramadan. There is 70 times more reward to give charity/sadaqa/Zakat in ramadan than any other month. Fixed percentage of Income is given as charity to poor, needy and orphans.
Laylat al-Qadr is the night on which the holy Book of Muslims i.e. Quran Majeed was revealed to mankind. According to Muslim belief this revelation occurred on an odd-numbered night during the last 10 days of Ramadan, either the night of the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th or 29th.
Eid ul-Fitr is the holiday that marks the end of the fasting period of Ramadan. Its the happiest moment in our lives which is celebrated the best we can. We buy new cloths, visit friends and families and share love and brotherhood.
I am now all ready for work and I apologies that I had kept you waiting for so long. Ramadan Mubarak. :)
